Former Biden White House Staffer Nation Wood Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting of Girlfriend
San Francisco, CA — Former White House staffer Nation Wood has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend in San Francisco. Wood, 25, who previously worked in security operations and held a White House position under the Biden administration, was taken into custody on an involuntary manslaughter charge after authorities say he accidentally shot and killed 22‑year‑old Samantha Emge at his Sunset District apartment.
According to police reports, Wood told investigators he was “dry‑firing” a handgun inside his residence and did not realize it was loaded when a round passed through a wall and struck Emge while she was in the bathroom. Emge, a recent graduate of San Francisco State University and design assistant, died from her injuries shortly after being transported to a local hospital.
Wood appeared in San Francisco Superior Court where a judge set bail at $300,000, imposing conditions including electronic monitoring and surrender of his passport and firearms. His attorney noted Wood has no prior criminal history and pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge.
The San Francisco Police Department continues to investigate the incident, urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
