BAGUIO CITY — The local community is in shock and mourning following the tragic passing of esteemed photographers Ompong Tan and Neil Ongchanco, who died in a vehicular accident while crossing the river in Dalupirip, Itogon.

Earlier that day, both artists had dedicated their time to capturing graduation moments for students, showcasing their commitment to community service and leaving behind a legacy of creativity and generosity.

Ompong Tan, recognized as one of Baguio’s Outstanding Citizens in 2022, was celebrated not only for his photography but also for his civic contributions. He mentored children with autism in photography and actively participated in local disaster response efforts, using his art to uplift and inspire others.

Neil Ongchanco, from the Public Information Office of the Baguio LGU, was revered for his kindness, humility, and unwavering support for the community. His presence in Baguio’s Sunday biking community and public service initiatives left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
