A devastating incident in Plainville has left a community in mourning after a man fatally shot his girlfriend, two young children, and himself following a tense standoff with police.

According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Patrick King, carried out the tragic act inside a home on Milford Street on Friday. Police say the situation unfolded after a woman contacted emergency dispatchers around 3:53 p.m., reporting that her brother had confessed to killing his girlfriend and their 4-year-old daughter, and intended to take his own life.
